Thanks for the invitation, Reinhard.  Brian and I would love to attend.

For those of you who don't know me, I am the German teacher at HEHS now. I was Reinhard's student teacher in '03 and this is now my 4th year working there!  I was feeling rather guilty about not having a "real" Weihnachtsfest this year, but am happy to see that more people can attend the virtual version. Alumni will be happy to learn that I was trained by the Meister and have tried to keep most traditions alive. Tipp Kick, the bike picnic, brat stands, etc., are all alive and well. We've also added a few new traditions, mainly so we can beat the Spanish and French Clubs at something. :)

German continues to be the tough little underdog at HEHS. We have the fewest students compared to the other languages, but the largest club and the largest exchange (21 will be traveling to Germany in June). There's still the sense of community and I think the current German students are proud of their program. We are anxiously awaiting the news about whether we will be moving to a new classroom due to building construction. The windows may have been long boarded up but we still have the sticker wall (for now)! It seems inevitable that times change, but it will definitely be interesting when the dust settles (literally) at HEHS.

I second the request for virtual beer!

Fröhliche Weihnachten!
